Why Choose Us: An Advocate for the Latino Community

We understand that many Latino workers are often hesitant to report their injuries to their employers for fear of losing their jobs.  This leads to workers continuing to perform their duties even though they are injured and working in pain. This is not the healthiest situation for anyone let alone those workers whose duties are very strenuous and repetitive.

The Law Offices of Jon M. Woods, Inc. recognizes those particular factors that keep Latino workers from seeking much needed medical attention and treatment.  We will fight for you and for your right to obtain Workers’ Compensation benefits.

Every worker injured in the performance of his or her job duties in California is entitled to receive Workers’ Compensation benefits.  These benefits may include medical evaluations and treatment, now and in the future, temporary and permanent disability, and supplemental job displacement benefits.

FAQs

  • If you get hurt on the job, your employer is required by law to pay for workers’ compensation benefits. You could get hurt by:

    • One event at work. Examples: hurting your back in a fall, getting burned by a chemical that splashes on your skin, getting hurt in a car accident while making deliveries.

    or:

    • Repeated exposures at work. Examples: hurting your hand, back, or other part of the body from doing the same motion over and over, losing your hearing because of constant loud noise.

Workers’ compensation covers some, but not all, stress-related (psychological) injuries caused by your job. Also, workers’ compensation may not cover an injury that is reported to the employer after the worker is told he or she will be terminated or laid off.
